Vernon Hillker, 69, died December 29 in Edmonds, WA. He was instrumental in establishing the seafood-processing industry in Kodiak following the 1964 earthquake. He also helped relocate the ship Star of Alaska to dry land, where the vessel was converted to a cannery. [Apr1979]
