Sophie Hackenberg, 95, died in a nursing home at Stanwood, Washington, December 31. She came to America from Austria in 1912, and moved, via California, to Alaska during World War II. She worked for the Alaska Railroad and later homesteaded on the Kenai Peninsula near Ninilchik.� [May1981]
