Samuel Angus Kelly, an Alaskan since 1935 and a former Delta businessman, died January 8 in Fairbanks, where he had been a resident of the Pioneers' Home since 1977. He worked at the Curry Hotel on the Alaska Railroad and in various mining camps, including Flat, Fairbanks, and Rampart, during his early years. He later owned and operated Kelly's Motel in Delta and was the first mayor of the city of Delta. His wife, Chaddie, survives. [June1981]
