Richard A. "Dick" Janson, 54, an Alaska Native leader, died November 13 in Anchorage. Born in Cordova, he lived there and in Kodiak, where he was a commercial fisherman. He had been business manager for the United Fishermen's Association in Kodiak and also was former secretary of the Cordova Marketing Association. Between 1959 and 1968 he was the first chairman of the Alaska Fish & Game Board. At the time of his death he was president of the Alaska Native Foundation, president of Chugach Natives Inc. of Cordova, and vice-chairman of the Alaska Federation of Natives.Ã‚Â [Feb 1978]
