End of the Trail

Notices in this section are limited to names of those who have achieved pioneer status through many years in the North, or who are otherwise of unquestioned importance in the daily scene.

Pete Brady, 91, died March 31 in Whitehorse, his home after prospecting and mining for a lifetime In the Klondike with his brother, Pat, who predeceased him. The two "fighting Irishmen" worked the dredges and creeks for more than 70 years, never married, and would take on anyone who tried to break up a fight between themselves. Pete's proudest moment came when he accompanied the mayor of New York at the head of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade one year shortly after the end of World War I. [Aug1981]
