The first registered nurse to receive a license in Alaska, Mrs. Mary Welch, died August 13 at the Pioneer's Home in Sitka. A long-time resident of Valdez, Mrs. Welch was slightly over 80 at the time of her death. Surviving is her husband, A. N. Welch. Final rites were conducted at Sitka on August 15.� � [Nov1967]
