Harry E. Merriman, Sr., 70, died November 14 in Fairbanks. An Alaska resident since 1941, he briefly lived in Juneau and Anchorage and tried gold mining in the Kantishna area. In 1945 he was involved with early development of Naval Arctic Petroleum Reserve #4 (Pet-4). In 1946 he acquired the Silver Fox Lodge about 50 miles from Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, owning and operating the lodge until it burned in the winter of 1960-1961. Ã‚Â [Apr1979]
