George Plack, 76, a former homesteader at North Pole, died December 11, 1980. at his home in Lake Montezuma, Arizona, where he had retired in 1972. He came to Dutch Harbor in 1941 to work on construction of a seaplane hangar and gunslght building. He later worked as a construction inspector for the Alaska Railroad, for the Public Roads Administration In Juneau, the Corps of Engineers In Anchorage, and the Bureau of Reclamation in Palmer. He and his wife, Virginia, home-steaded 160 acres in North Pole in 1952.� [May1981]
