Dorothy Wells Manthey, 80, who. with her first husband, Henry Wells, homesteaded at Homer in 1922, and who later, with her second husband. Bill Manthey, operated a construction company in Juneau, died December 29. at Edmonds, Washington. She was the first postmistress in Homer. The Mantheys retired in 1966and moved toGraniteFalls, Washington. [June1981]
