Charles S. Brown, an early-day Alaskan who prospected in the Chestochina country, was one of the discoverers of Slate Creek, and helped to establish the weekly newspaper, The Miner, at Valdez, died in Everett, Wash., on January 3, at the age of 84. [April1962]
