Allen Shattuck, who arrived in Alaska in 1897 and had been in the insurance business at Juneau for more than sixty years, died July 1 at San Rafael, Calif., age 87. Five times a member of the Alaska Territorial Legislature, he was president of the Senate in 1933, also served at various times as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alaska Pioneers' Home, treasurer of the All Alaska Chamber of Commerce, several terms as president of the Juneau Chamber of Commerce, and was active in many civic affairs. Born at Gresham, Oregon, in 1872, Mr. Shattuck married May Agnes Swineford, daughter of Alaska's second Territorial governor, in 1902, He is survived by his widow, a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren.
